I got a call from this number at 2:05 AM. Luckily, I turn my phone off at night and didn't see it until this morning, but I can actually be helpful here. That is the 'city of Asheville citizens notification line.' In theory, they call with reports of water outages and 'citizens alerts' which could be related to emergencies near you, street closures, police matters and things they think you need to know. In practice, since they do not leave a voicemail (wtf?!) and often call at inappropriate times, it ends up being more of a curse than a blessing. There's a number to call to opt out, 828-251-1122, or if you're dying for midnight wake up calls you can register for the service at www.ashevillenc.gov |

Called and did not leave a message. Caller ID says CITY OF ASHEVILLE. I don't know anyone in Asheville. Blocked!! |
