I received a call today from this number - they left a voicemail and I called them back. They said that their company name was Allocation Adjustment Services and that they represented the state of California as mediators in bank fraud cases. They told me that I must hire an attorney to represent me in court because I could not go to court without one. They used the same wording that others have reported: "Hi, this message is intended for________. I received an order in my office today to complete in order process for several pin understand you are currently being investigated for I will be verifying your current address and place of employment today. And the meantime, it is your responsibility and legal right to contact the plaintiff to this prior to being served at this number is 804-482-4021 please make reference to your case number 191775 failure to comply will result in forfeiture of your right to dispute this matter and a complaint will be filed against you in your local County __________consider this your official notification. This is debt collector and the company is called allocation adjustment service. / This number is threatening me. Says they know my address at home and work and have a file on me. / This number calls me constantly. I'm sick and tired of them calling about the same issues. It's a wrong number, and they refuse to remove my phone number. When I confront them, they hang up." They said I would be "served" soon with my court date. They had my social security number correct, my old, old email address that I hadn't used for about 10 or more years, my grandparents' old address where I lived during high school & college (1984-2004), but my grandparents are deceased. They said I worked for a company that had the name of someone that went to my high school, two years younger than me and a friend of my younger brother (I didn't even know he had a company). They said I took out a payday loan (I am disabled) for $700 but now owed $1,654.11 due to interest & fees. They couldn't give me the specific year I took out this "loan", saying either 2009 or 2010 and that it was charged off in 2012 and that's how they got my info, as the state was "suing me". The first guy I spoke to did give me a name, but when I called back and got a female, she refused. They did offer to settle for half the amount if I paid it right then and there. She told me to hire an attorney, said "good luck in court" and she hung up on me. I have NO clue what they are referring to as I haven't taken out a loan for anything since the late 1990's!
