Basically same as Deb reported 5 hours ago. $1400 charge, wanted me to change something on my laptop to fix the problem. I didn't do it, told him I would call Amazon directly to verify and he gave me this number to call. I didn't call it, because if scam, the number would be part of it. Haven't been able to reach Amazon about it yet.

Confirmed scam call. A man, reporting to be with Amazon support called at 8:30 AM EST saying he was with Amazon credit card services concerning a $1400 charge to my card it to be sent to another state. He had an accent but spoke slowly and distinctly and sounded official. He reported that Amazon was verifying the placement of the order. He said it was necessary to adjust a setting on my web Amazon account so this wouldn't happen again. He had my name and address but wouldn't give me my card number. I told him I wasn't going to change any settings and I''d call Amazon myself. He gave me his name, I.D number at what appeared to be a valid Amazon support email and 701 450 5299. I told him I thought this was a scam. Instead I called the Amazon visa card number they gave me the real 800 Amazon support number who confirmed there was no such charge.
