Person called today identifying that we have Century Link Phone Service. That a new program of reduced rate for people who have had land lines for many years, which reduces the Century Link bill by $16.00 each month. However, this discount is through AT&T but we will still get a Century Link billing? We promptly contacted Century Link and they say that they have received many complaints. They made a note in our account to not switch our service. They also said that there are many other numbers associated with this scam.

Calling stating they are AT&T Technicians, designated to set up the copper wire retirment whereas AT&T will be converting from copper lines to digital per the FCC and they are getting ahead of it and getting the fees waived for the installation conversion. When I told her that I will call AT&T directly, she went into defense mode and insulting AT&T customer service will only try to sell me upgrad packages and they cant do anything about the conversion, it can only be done by them (AT&T Technicians). Then proceeded to try to transfer me to her AT&T Supervisor. While there is a posting on the AT&T support site about AT&T copper network retirment, it is not a date or mandatory requirement for customers to switch their phone lines to digital lines. This type of announce and requirment is included on the bill if necessary, not via UNCOLICITED phone calls from NON-AT&T phone numbers and people saying it can only done through us and we can get you a lower cost and fees waived. Been there done it and it wont happen with me.
