An unwanted call from this Victorville landline number arrived today. When the answering machine picked up, the caller left no message, just dead space. Robocallers (unlawful telemarketers) do this all the time while trolling the phone lines seeking gullible schmucks to victimize. Posters report this is a fake police charity, of which there are many. Even the website www.whitepages.com classifies this number as "scam or fraud." I;m sooooooooo surprised!!!!!

This is a robocaller which uses an automated system to attempt to trick you into thinking it's a human. It literally answers "Hello?" and then waits for a response. If you don't respond, it'll say "Hello?" a few more times. If you do, it'll say it's "Ray Crusette", then ask you other questions and pretend to listen before moving on to its spiel about asking for money for its charities. It's not actually a human - just a waste of time and a great example of terrible ethics in charity solicitation. Vote with your dollars and hang up. Don't give money to whoever uses them - if they're legitimate, they'll find a better way to ask for money.
