They locked us out by requiring a password they installed. Obviously a scam. I restored machine from backup and now all's well. Glad that at least it wasn't malicious only a financial scam.

Also, on DO NOT CALL registry so obvious violated that. Background noise sounded like a "boiler room" from a foreign (India) country and agent I talked too had heavy accent.
