This seems like a particularly despicable form of scam. It was a recorded message saying they understood that someone at our household had been treated for breast cancer with a particular drug, and that we might be eligible for compensation. Perhaps I'm being unduly cynical, but I assume it was to get personal information to which the "compensation" would be sent. The odd thing is that, while no one at our household had been being treated for breast cancer, I had googled that chemotherapy drug a while back for a friend, so I'm wondering if that led to the call. |
