I waited several hours after receiving this call (didn't pick up when they first called) and called the number back. It's a local number but it's being generated by The National Police Support Fund organization, based in Alexandria, Virginia. I assume when they call people throughout the US there will be "local" numbers for all their recipients because the callers are volunteers. The Better Business Bureau reports this organization as being a "potential scam", because it wasn't satisfied with the information given about their finances. Take this with a grain of salt, I guess! |
